Chinese New Year celebrations begin on February 5th, 2019 is the Year of the Earth Pig according to the Chinese zodiac. Last year of the Earth Dog showed us more of a “bark” in overall intensity in aspects of our lives. We should expect this year of the Pig to be more peaceful giving us time to catch our breath and take a rest.
Pigs are considered to be a symbol of wealth and good fortune. If you were born in the years 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, or 2019 the Pig is your Chinese zodiac. People with the Pig as their sign are good natured and easy going. They love to be in the moment just for the joy of the experience. They are patient, compassionate and love to share what they have with others.
The Year of the Earth Pig will be one of optimism, new business and creative projects, good health, social activities and travel adventures. It’s important to achieve these at a light hearted relaxed pace and to take time to savor the moment. Working hard is important but treating ourselves is equally so. Community gatherings focused on food, friendship and play will also be a main focus. Because it is also the element of Earth this year, eating and enjoying nourishing food without over indulgence will be vital as to avoid stagnation. Any chance to get outside and enjoy nature is recommended.
Cheers to the Earth Pig!
